Summer inspiration doesn’t get much better than this. I had been having trouble sourcing relatable spreads in my budget: Too many colors, too many untranslatable silhouettes and fabrics, too many fine pieces that could’t be sourced. It’s exciting, but it’s hard when you need to shop fast. Benjamin Eidem got styled up by Albert Torres and photographed by Weston Wells for a collection of shots featuring Maison Martin Margiela, Comme des Garçons, and Paul Smith in navy blue, light blue, royal blue, and gray.
The smartest look here? For me, the shrunken cardigan worn with flat-front pants and running shoes. It might not be the most fashion-forward, but it is trim and attractive for the weekend. It’s easily put together with finds from your closet, and I can actually imagine someone wearing it regularly. A smarter, more nautical look is one with a striped tee, soft shorts, and no-nonsense shoes–perhaps for wearing in the park or scrambling up a rocky path? Both of these looks also have a slight Ivy-style bend that I’d like to see in some other places beside stereotypical Cambridge. I give extra points for the use of navy and black together.
