Long known as a center for furniture (Herman Miller is headquartered nearby) and automobile manufacturing, Grand Rapids has an amazing heritage when it comes to design. And to prove my case, here’s the new Grand Rapids Art Museum. Carefully planed by designers from wHY Architecture, thIS imposing building looks like an oasis surrounded by urban life and a sheltering canopy of trees. Clad with concrete and a lots of glass, the museum building comes up to life at night when the lights peacefully fall onto the walls. [via ArchDaily]
