To celebrate Chopard’s 150th anniversary, the Geneva-based company has debuted the stunning L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon. Tapping into the watchmaker’s passion for motor sports, this model houses a proprietary mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement, L.U.C Calibre 1TRM. Similar to a car engine, this movement is mounted on silent blocks, which absorbs shocks, and held by three lever arms inserted into the case middle.
The dial is also inspired by the world of autos with a theme of transparency. The numerals characteristic of the L.U.C collection and the hour-markers are engraved and black-tinted beneath the glare-resistant sapphire crystal. The hand-sewn black alligator leather strap setting the perfect finishing touch to this model is enhanced by four reinforced inserts evoking the seats of classic racing cars. The L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon in titanium is produced in a limited series of 150 – in honor of Chopard’s 150th anniversary. [via acquire]

Based on the Horological Machine 2, MB&F presents Horological Machine No2-SV, featuring a room-with-a-view crystal-clear sapphire case with titanium back. With its transparent case, HM2-SV offers visual access to the hand-finished, 349-component engine powering the indications on its iconic twin dials.
The blue of the gasket is echoed in the hour disk and moon phase, and also the blued 22k gold Battle-axe automatic winding rotor is visible through the display back. To ensure maximum light and visibility through to the movement, the two dials (minutes/date) are also in sapphire; lightly brushed to provide full legibility of the polished silvered numbers while allowing maximum light through to the engine beneath. This engine, developed by award-winning watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, features the world’s first mechanical movement offering: Instantaneous Jump Hour, Concentric Retrograde Minutes, Retrograde Date, Bi-Hemisphere Moon Phase and Automatic Winding. The watch will be limited to just 25 pieces worldwide. [via hodinkee]

The fiercely named Predator, Rebellion’s first watch clothed in a round case, is the result of a collaboration with award-winning designer Eric Giroud. Many characteristics of the Predator, both technical and aesthetic, are inspired directly from racing cars – like the brake disks and the pedals. There is the five-layered dial, the base of which is in a honeycomb that ensures rigidity while maximizing lightness. Then we switch over to the chronograph counters, which are connected to the dial by push rod shaped bridges decorated with a central ruby.
The bezel is attached by 8 distinctive screws with heads in the brand’s logo and the back by 6 torx screws, reinforcing the racing spirit of the watch. Another exclusivity of this model is the casing, which is constructed in a complex sandwich of superimposed layers allowing considerable personalization according to your taste. The Predator is available in several case materials: red, gold and steel. The finely-crafted timepiece is also available in a time-only version with three hands and date, as well as a mono-pusher chronograph. [via the awesomer]

Powered by Breitling’s Calibre 32 movement, the Colt GMT+ is not only distinguished by its innate functionality and sturdiness, but also by its distinctive design: sporty, elegant and contemporary all at once. The bezel is adorned with raised numerals and hour markers, highlighted by the contrast between polished and satin-brushed surfaces. The dynamic dial features large stamped numerals and a concentric-line motif. The new watch, available in four dial variations, is also fitted with a push button-operated seamless clasp, plus extension piece that is adjustable in a few seconds.
In this version, housed in a stainless steel case that’s matched with a rubber/steel strap, the Colt GMT+ is resolutely geared towards originality and style for the wrist; the watch is equally at ease on all five continents (whew!), way up in the sky and water resistance to depths of 500 meters (1,660 ft). Pilots, world travelers, divers and other ruggedly handsome, swashbuckling types would be wise to add this beauty to their arsenal of wrist accessories. [via watchist]

This gorgeous watch design was originally conceived by Longines for Charles Lindbergh’s first non-stop flight across the Atlantic. At the time, the 1933 chronograph featured enough “high tech” additions to help Lindbergh on his way. The Lindbergh Atlantic Voyage Chronograph is offered in steel or gold, has a 42-hour reserve, and is water-resistant to 30 meters. A great gift for an aviation enthusiast… or for yourself. This sleek Chronograph watch from Perrelet, the Regulatuer Retrograde, has some dizzying details, including stretched-out, exaggerated numbers and wildly vintage lettering.
