A home run where design is concerned, the MVT01/D01/42 model is the first watch released by 4N. Limited to just 16 pieces, the watch is characterized by a manufacturer movement, with a manual winding mechanism and a 12-hour digital display. The concept of the timepiece is based on a configuration of discs rotating in a discontinuous mode.
The watch features three discs (made of aluminum or titanium alloy) with different numbers engraved on them. The discs rotate to present the appropriate time in four digits. The mechanism uses a constant force jump system which guarantees minimum energy consumption, regardless of the winding tension. 4N offers the MVT01/D01/42 in 18K white gold and platinum versions; the dial is covered by a sapphire glass crystal, and the band will be offered in a range of materials. To celebrate Chopard’s 150th anniversary, the Geneva-based company has debuted the stunning L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon. Tapping into the watchmaker’s passion for motor sports, this model houses a proprietary mechanical hand-wound tourbillon movement, L.U.C Calibre 1TRM. Similar to a car engine, this movement is mounted on silent blocks, which absorbs shocks, and held by three lever arms inserted into the case middle.
The dial is also inspired by the world of autos with a theme of transparency. The numerals characteristic of the L.U.C collection and the hour-markers are engraved and black-tinted beneath the glare-resistant sapphire crystal. The hand-sewn black alligator leather strap setting the perfect finishing touch to this model is enhanced by four reinforced inserts evoking the seats of classic racing cars. The L.U.C Engine One Tourbillon in titanium is produced in a limited series of 150 – in honor of Chopard’s 150th anniversary. [via acquire]

Based on the Horological Machine 2, MB&F presents Horological Machine No2-SV, featuring a room-with-a-view crystal-clear sapphire case with titanium back. With its transparent case, HM2-SV offers visual access to the hand-finished, 349-component engine powering the indications on its iconic twin dials.
The blue of the gasket is echoed in the hour disk and moon phase, and also the blued 22k gold Battle-axe automatic winding rotor is visible through the display back. To ensure maximum light and visibility through to the movement, the two dials (minutes/date) are also in sapphire; lightly brushed to provide full legibility of the polished silvered numbers while allowing maximum light through to the engine beneath. This engine, developed by award-winning watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, features the world’s first mechanical movement offering: Instantaneous Jump Hour, Concentric Retrograde Minutes, Retrograde Date, Bi-Hemisphere Moon Phase and Automatic Winding. The watch will be limited to just 25 pieces worldwide. [via hodinkee]

The fiercely named Predator, Rebellion’s first watch clothed in a round case, is the result of a collaboration with award-winning designer Eric Giroud. Many characteristics of the Predator, both technical and aesthetic, are inspired directly from racing cars – like the brake disks and the pedals. There is the five-layered dial, the base of which is in a honeycomb that ensures rigidity while maximizing lightness. Then we switch over to the chronograph counters, which are connected to the dial by push rod shaped bridges decorated with a central ruby.
The bezel is attached by 8 distinctive screws with heads in the brand’s logo and the back by 6 torx screws, reinforcing the racing spirit of the watch. Another exclusivity of this model is the casing, which is constructed in a complex sandwich of superimposed layers allowing considerable personalization according to your taste. The Predator is available in several case materials: red, gold and steel. The finely-crafted timepiece is also available in a time-only version with three hands and date, as well as a mono-pusher chronograph. [via the awesomer]
