Designed for simplicity and style, the One Night flat-packed furniture by designer Sebastian Kjerse sure adds nicely to any small spot. Created after a single long night of work – hence the name, the collection consists of various sets of chairs each with a basic center piece that compliments it perfectly. Unassuming in its appearance and designed for low-seated comfort, One Night is compact enough to be welcomed into most modern homes, lounges and patios. Nice for a relaxing breakfast in the morning, no? [via Contemporist]

Contractors could barely keep pace with housing demand in Vancouver, the costal Canadian city that saw rapid growth from 1965 to 1985. Builders met the market with scads of cheap, easy to build homes known as “Vancouver Specials” — a term now disparagingly used to denote tacky design and relatively poor construction. Chris Doray and Arno Matis from Iconstrux have turned the phrase around with their rehab of this 1960s home, situated in Vancouver’s Dunbar neighborhood. Using the home’s existing square footage, Doray and Matis renovated the home, adding anodized aluminum windows, grey stucco, cedar railings and an enhanced upper floor balcony. The result preserves the historic charm of the neighborhood while adding dramatic, contemporary touches that redefine special in Vancouver. [via contemporist]

As late as 2003, the Toxteth Church in the Glebe neighborhood of Sydney, Australia was empty, ignored. This 100-year-old chapel rested quietly until it was resurrected by Otto Cserhalmi and Partners, a firm that planned to turn this church into a premier contemporary home. The new Toxteth Church features four bedrooms and baths, a spacious, clean interior with warm hardwoods and plantlife, and a rooftop veranda that merges with the nature of its lot. Otto Cserhalmi and Partners are selling the reclaimed church home for $2.374 million on the market now. [otto cserhalmi via contemporist]

Just fifteen miles from East Hampton, NY rests the ultimate peaceful, contemporary getaway from the relentless pace of New York City. The home is currently on the market for $35,000,000 from Sothebys, putting it just a tad outside of our price range. While we can’t live in this magnificent Montauk home, we can still appreciate it. Pour over those images below, we already have… [sothebys via contemporist]
