Continuing our celebration of modern furniture, the good people at Dupoux Design have revealed their Cocoon Chair, a comfortable, contemporary lounge chair for the modern home or office. Taking clear inspiration from the works of Adelta and Bertoia, the Cocoon Chair features an upholstered cushion and back with a Victorian-styled button pattern. Its chrome base gives a progressive vision to the classic seat design, making for an all-around brilliant piece of contemporary furniture. The Cocoon Chair is now produced by D-mand, no word on pricing… [d-mand]

BDI’s Marina is much more than elegant furniture design. On this piece, it’s what you do not see that makes all the difference. Electronics are discreetly concealed, yet accessible behind IR-friendly doors. Engineered with cleverly integrated features such as speaker and media storage compartments, cable management, hidden wheels and flow-through ventilation, the meridian is designed to perform as well as the TV that’s on it. With the BDI Meridian, you can almost guarantee yourself that your TV will not be the only thing that is state of the art. [via bdiusa]

From the mid 1920s to the late 1950s, a revolution in furniture design was happening from the US to Europe. Considered art in their own right, these 10 modern chairs revolutionized the way we sit– and turned the act of rest into a thing of beauty.

SKiN is a seating system by French architect Jean Nouvel that just won the “best of the best” title at the 2008 Red Dot Design Awards. Designed for Molteni & C, the cool looking “sofa” is made of a tubular pretensioned aluminum frame, features foam rubber inserts and includes hide leather and felt finishings. Not sure how comfortable the SKiN seating collection is or if it will stand the test of time, but we’re sold on the interesting design. [via Contemporist]

In case of the Le Cob Bath by Omvivo, the mantra of modern design and architecture – less is more, translates into a stunning form. Paying homage to Le Corbusier’s famous chaise lounge, the simple, stylish and curved bathtub is far smaller than those we’ve been used to. Designed by Joseph Licciarsi to sport an interesting cascading waterfall that falls on black pebbles, just the mere sight of the glassy tub makes you want to take a dip. [via LimitedHype]

We’re obsessed with what we’ve dubbed “weaponized design“, design items inspired by the symbol of weaponry. While we’re peaceful people, the iconography behind the weapon has worked its way into our design subconscious. That said, we’re instant fans of the work of designer Alexander Reh. Reh has designed the Fully Loaded Chair, a solid steel chair perforated with once-fired 12-guage shotgun shells. The result is a comfortable, stylish chair with one hell of a red, plastic mean streak. We salute Mr. Reh, this is one hell of a chair… [rehhab]

Located in Ramat Yishay, a town in the valley of Yezre-el in the Northern Israel, the stunningly serene Rosso Restaurant takes shelter in nature’s secluded lap. Apart from the modern furnishings and contours similar with the landscape outside, the most amazing thing is the ceiling. Built of thirty-six steel structures and covered by painted wood, it will sure get your attention for a few seconds. Sounds like a great place to stop by for a bite. I wonder how’s the food … [via ArchDaily]

We’d love to get a set of these wrapped around our bar and flip on some classic electro r&b. If they caught your eye as well, head over to Contemporist for more pictures and all of the dirty details… [contemporist]
