TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph

One look at the TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph and it’s easy to tell this watch is going to be pricey. TAG Heuer has introduced the first ever column wheel integrated mechanical chronograph displaying the 1/100th of a second with a striking central hand allowing for easy reading. To me that just sounds expensive.

Entirely designed, patented, developed and manufactured in La Chaux-De-Fonds in Switzerland, the luxury watch features two assortments, 62 jewels and 396 components; the case of TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph is 43mm diameter; both crystals are sapphire and covered with safe anti-reflective coating. As to water resistance – it’s 100 meters. Inside the watch you’ll find the Calibre 360 movement, which moves at a robust 360,000 beats per hour. The movement also features oscillating weights that can be personalized.

The original Mikrographs was originally released in 1916, and the Carrera Mikrograph is the latest iteration of the famous technology. This Mikrograph is part of the latest additions to the Carrera line, and was recently debuted at the Basel Fair in Switzerland. The 1916 TAG Heuer Mikrograph was the first sports stopwatch accurate to 1/50th and 1/100th of a second when other timing instruments could only measure to the nearest 1/5th of a second.

Available in a rose gold limited edition of 150 timepieces only, with matching brown reptile strap. The one word review: impressive. [via pursuitist]

Bermuda Shorts By Hartford

We salute the simple awesomeness of the Bermuda Short, in particular this nice pair from Paris-based designer Hartford. Available in brown or light blue, this particular classic lightweight cotton Bermuda short features five external pockets and a buttoned internal pocket, a button closure, zip fly and belt hooks.

Priced at $165, these shorts require only a crisp, white T-shirt and some killer sandals to complete a mostly perfect look for those hot summer days. Mr. Porter (our favorite new site) suggests a Calvin Klein T-shirt and Polo Ralph Lauren sandals.

But the beauty of the Bermuda shorts is that hey are versatile. Oh so very versatile. And that’s why it’s vital to have a rockin’ pair on hand.

A side note about Bermuda shorts: they are identified as Bermuda shorts by the fact that they end above the knee. They are so called because they were originally popular in the British territory of Bermuda, accepted as formal wear in the hot weather if worn with knee-length socks.

H?Katsukawa, Tokyo Silkprint Collection

Luxury shoes always fall on the side of “buy,” but the shopping list would get too lengthy, too fast if we really planned on getting every single pair we saw. However, the H?Katsukawa Tokyo Silkprint Collection might be something that you actually want to track down, budget for, beg for, whatever suits your fancy. Certainly for the dapper man, the Tokyo Silkprint Collection has derbys and oxfords available with an antique-looking finish. Black round laces look superb on the pairs, of course, but so do the skinny light-colored laces shown above–or both.

Paying more attention to the soles and outsoles of these marvelous shoes, I can tell that they’re worth the time I spent scrutinizing the shots–and the moola. Muted upper colors with a dash of pattern (including stripes and stars, in addition to the checked option) make these shoes some of Eiichi Katsukawa’s best. This shot shown above is from Style Savage, which offers great insight into the images:

Acronym iPad Bag

Acronym’s iPad Bag costs basically as much as an iPad, and when I first saw it, I thought that maybe you got the iPad, and the bag came for free. Wrong, but that could be a cool partnership. The Acronoym Circdiscover iPad Bag has a swivel design that’s so ingenious. You’ll want this if you love your iPad, without a doubt, using it while you’re standing on the street corner, in line, or meandering through the park (but just make sure the area’s clear of iPad bandits).

Here’s the thing: this bag, available at Havenshop.ca, is currently sold out. I want it; you probably want it, too. Let’s hope they restock, because this bag can be slung on your back when you don’t need it, and then hovered in front of your chest, in multiple different positioning options, for the best angles. Havenshop describes its usefulness as such: “Shift freely between horizontal and vertical modes; tec sys webbing allows further customization.” It should say “Go jogging. Use your iPad,” because seeing how this bag works makes me wants to really test its capabilities. The Acronym iPad bag can also hold a Moleskine XL Soft Notebook, although that seems less exciting. Made with the finest leather from Horween Tanner in Chicago, Il, and handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee, this superb Emil Erwin Messenger Bag is designed to last forever. Stitched with mil-spec nylon thread, the bag ($1,100) features stainless steel buckles and rings and copper hardware.

Clarks Original Desert Boots in Slate Blue

Ronnie Fieg’s Clarks Originals Desert Boots are great, aren’t they? I can’t get enough of Clarks–like a lot of people out there, to be honest–and the slate blue ones are a good choice when it comes to bridging the gap between blacks/greys and colors for shoes. Matching slate blue laces are the finishing touch here, leaving these both denim-friendly and a pal to well-worn casual pieces. The shoes still haven’t gone on sale yet, so you have your chance to pounce, unlike some of the pieces we’ve spotted that are only available in limited sizing or that have sold out. These will be available on April 8th at Davidz.com (10 a.m. EST)… start your engines?

The choice of slate blue is a good one, since it provides a glimpse of the nap. With soft uppers and with an even softer color, the Slate Blue Clarks Originals work for adding some pep to basics. The best things about Clarks’ new Ronnie Fieg shoes is that they don’t require you to take a chance on innovative shoes that simply aren’t as comfortable as they’re billed to be. The Clarks Originals are a safe pick, but they aren’t a boring one. [via selectism]

The Japan Hope Polo Shirt

Ralph Lauren has joined the relief effort in Japan by selling special edition “Japan Hope” polo shirts. Polo Ralph Lauren linked up with the United Way, with 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the limited edition polo shirts donated to the humanitarian effort through the Central Community Chest of Japan, a part of the United Way worldwide network.

Trim, modern fit in cotton mesh, the specially designed polo shirts are finished with the iconic, embroidered pony at the left chest, applied flag and embroidered “Japan Relief” at the right chest. Embroidered “Japan”, “Ralph Lauren” and “United Way Worldwide” logo at the back. If you are a Polo fan, then this is ideal – and you are helping out a good cause. It’s a cool way to enjoy a nice shirt and also give back to Japan.

The Japan Hope Polo Shirt comes in two styles, the Japan Hope Skinny-Fit and the Japan Hope Custom-Fit, and in two different colors – white & navy blue (His & hers).

Hackett London also launched a limited edition polo shirt to help the victims of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. All profits are donated to the Japan Society “Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund”. The Orvis Pineapple Pants

At first glance I was not loving the Pineapple Pants from Orvis. I’ve dabbled with sharks and lobsters on my pants, but no fruit to this point.

But it wasn’t long before I was envisioning myself in the pants, accompanied by a crisp, white t-shirt and flip-flops. At a beach bar somewhere, of course. Sure, you have an easy conversion starter with the pineapple-and-leaves print covering your lower half, but these pants are also built for maximum comfort.

The pure cotton-twill pants are designed for long wear and lightweight comfort, notes Orvis. The pineapple pants feature a double-needle side-seam stitching and un-constructed waistband.

The party pants, as they are referred to by Orvis, can be enjoyed in red and navy.

“You’ll be the life of the party in our men’s lively cotton twill pants,” say the team at Ovis. I’m finding it hard to disagree and might have to take them up on their statement soon.

Besides the pineapple pants spotlighted here, Orvis is showing all sorts of nice apparel and accessories for the season, including, shorts, shirts and, yes, comfortable pants. Their Signature Polo caught my eye, a pure cotton, very good-looking shirt that is available in 15 colors. The Straw Fedora also stands out; it just says ‘summertime’ to me. [via selectism]

Schön Spread Styled by Ioannis Dimitrousis

If you want an easy way to punch up a spring outfit, go for stripes. They can be navy-and-white on a striped jersey shirt; they can be thicker and across a blazer body; they can be on an accessory of choice, like a cocked hat or a pair of deck shoes. While tight-to-the-body picks from Jean Paul Gaultier were the looks of choice featured in Schön, you don’t need to shrink-wrap yourself in a pair of tight striped trousers to win. A striped pocket square? That idea we like, along with the collegiate-looking blazer.

Schön’s spread, styled by Ioannis Dimitrousis and photographed by Dimitris Theocharis, explores the side of sailor wear that even includes sailor caps and vintage-style knits. It looks like this is model Sebastian Sauve’s first voyage, considering how fresh and wide-eyed he looks in the magazine… While I wish I could see more footwear in the editorial, I can understand why the camera got closer. In one shot, we looked at a trim pair of white shoes that reminded me of vintage ’50s winklepickers, which would be excellent with white or light pants and a striped shirt inspired by Schön, by the way. Red Wing Chukkas

Give me chukkas, year-round. For all the pseudo “outdoorsy” pieces I see on the websites I visit, there are some items that I can imagine actually wearing to do stuff. I have a hunting-trapping-fishing side of the family that rarely puts their seal of approval on things, but I know that they’d like the clean lines of these Red Wing chukkas in warm leather and leather laces. In fact, these could make a good gift for said family members.

You may have noticed the toe on these chukkas–it’s different. They have a great toe shape with strong stitching, plus a white outsole to break up all that rich brown. Red Wing shoes, being as big as they are, has a huge amount of work-appropriate shoes that include various chukka designs, but the fresh boat shoe soles are big for summer. Red Wing Heritage is the place you want to go to stock up on triple-stitched boots (old-fashioned, of course), glossy brown leather work boots, and chukkas galore. Wear simple work pants and a worn t-shirt when you’re actually doing stuff. Looking good might not be your prerogative when you’re working outdoors, but you might as well get a pair of shoes that look good. [shoes via denim geek]

The Talladega Polo By Billy Reid

Maybe you’re lucky enough to be heading down to Florence, Alabama the first weekend in June for a party known as The Shindig; for the past two years, Billy Reid (the guy and his company) throws this weekend-long bash for friends and family that’s filled with live music, good food, boating and booze. If you’re not on the coveted guest list and feel like crashing, well, perhaps something from the Billy Reid collection might help you gain access to a weekend of southern-fried fun.

It’s going to be toasty down south in June so the Talladega Polo – new for spring from Billy Reid – is going to serve you well. Cut trim in pique cotton with contrast stitching detail, the Talladega Polo features cotton sheeting on the placket and under the collar.

Four natural mother of pearl buttons line the placket. The shirt is available in four colors: red, white, light blue and navy. Becasue the polo is cut trim, they recommend jumping up a size for a looser fit. The polos are available from small to xx-large.

There is a ton of great apparel and accessories over at BillyReid.com, so it’s worth a look; everything caught my eye, but the suit jackets, sweaters and t-shirts definitely stood out. [via uncrate]

Boris Bidjan Boots, New Origin of Lights Shades

Remember when the Origins of Lights sunglasses were sold out all over, and I managed to finally hunt them down? Now Oki-Ni has the Chronicles of Never sunglasses in the tortoiseshell frames that were pretty hard to locate before, plus an excellent pair of boots from Boris Bidjan to add to the mix. Neither are cheap, but both I covet immensely. Quality is king; you’ll have to be ready to pay for it.

The Boris Bidjan Saberi Ankle Boots are one of the best examples of investing in quality, considering they top $1,500 and look amazing with a curved sole and artfully-mussed cowhide leather. When boots look this intriguing without a foot in them, you know they look show-stoppingly good while worn. I was staring at the pics of these ankle boots and wondering what makes them look so nice: I guess that’s premium-quality material for you. Made in Spain from oil-tumbled leather, these boots have an oversized zipper and a tattered heel tab. I squealed a little when I saw the hammered sole and topsy-turvy appeal, but I’d have to really save up to get these for someone. What’s your shoe investment cutoff?
