Zero Motorcycles Introduces All-electric Zero DS

If you were excited with the lightweight Zero X Electric Motorcycle, things are about to get even better now that the all-electric Zero DS has been released. A zippy vehicle perfect for both street and trail, the dual sport runs entirely on electricity, comes with tougher tires, a more aggressive, stronger travel suspension and big round headlights to add to its extreme styling. With a 55-mile range and a top speed of 55 mph courtesy of a 4 kWh battery that takes less than four hours to charge, the Zero DS comes with a $9,950 price tag attached. [via HFLM]

2010 Buell Lightning CityX XB12SX Bike Goes to Europe

Buell has just added to their unique range of motorcycles with the new Lightning CityX XB12SX bike. Only intended for the European roads, the new CityX XB12Sx combines the 93bhp Sportster-derived air-cooled Thunderstorm V-twin engine with an iMac-influenced chassis design that stands out from the crowd. On top of that, the bike features revised front brake calipers, fully adjustable spring elements, a new LED taillight, stylish rear turn signals, headlight guards and elegant black wheels. The Shocker Bike by Team Tentakulus

Every year with the Tour de France in full swing our desire for riding just like the pro grows stronger and stronger. This same desire must have come true for the German designers from Team Tentakulus. Not at all intended for the French countryside, their Shocker Bike is more about a cool factor rather than performance. Featuring a simple frame with a raised handlebar and a lowered seating position, the innovative bicycle takes on a chopper design and has no gears to change. While finding a chopper-style bike can be done stateside, this design could be mass-produced and sell quite well for breezy summer cruising. [via LikeCool]

GT Golden Bike Series For The Stylish Rider

GT Bikes is launching a new amateur mountain biking across the country with their Golden Bike Series race. It’s not just a great way of having fun outdoors and competing with others, the fastest biker at each race gets crowned as a winner and wins one of these custom painted golden GT Zaskar or Marathon Team bikes to use at the next race. The lightest full suspension bike ever, the GT Golden Bike is completely clad in gold, has a carbon fiber monocoque frame, an XTR drivetrain with a Shadow rear derailleur and “the best components anywhere”. Customize the color of the frame, rims, tires, chain, cranks, grips and saddle and dodge traffic on a singlespeed that bears your fingerprints through and through. Flip-flop hub takes you on a seamless journey from fixed-gear trendiness to freewheel speed and performance. While customization of this magnitude usually entails dropping an unenviable amount of coin, the Aristotle costs just $399 and is available for custom-build on a first-come basis. Ducati 848 Nicky Hayden Sportbike Unveiled

To celebrate the Fourth of July, Ducati has taken the wraps off of their new 848 Nicky Hayden Edition. An US-exclusive model intended as the market’s best middleweight sport bike, the two wheeler comes with a charming American-inspired paint scheme. Run by the same 134-horsepower (at 10,000 rpm) L-twin Evoluzione powerplant, wet-clutch and six-speed gearbox from the 848 line, the 2010 Nick Hayden edition also features a signed gas tank, an aluminum cam belt tensioner pulleys for improved acceleration and LED dash illumination for superior night visibility. Light, yet extremely powerful, the new Ducati 848 Nicky Hayden Sportbike should be available at authorized Ducati dealerships from July 7 and will cost $14,495. [via Autoblog]

Gun Inspired Gravel Racer by Freeman Transport

You don’t have to be a messenger or a track bike racer to love the latest cruiser from the gentlemen at Freeman Transport. Dubbed the Gravel Racer, the bike has been designed with the renowned Colt 45 in mind (not the spirit, the pistol). It’s covered with a gun metal finish – richly painted with blues and ferric browns, features a set of old racing handlebars, stainless steel lugged rack, chain guard and two stylish fenders as an option. The Gravel Racer can be built as a fixed gear or with coaster breaks, and is available in a basic configuration for $985. There’s a deluxe version as well, but it’ll cost you a whopping $5,275. For many of us, a fixed gear bicycle is nothing unless it packs something unique. That’s probably what inspired Paris-based designer Jacques Ferrand when he developed his latest creation. An amazing work of leather art and craftsmanship, here’s a spectacular bicycle that sets the practical aside. All covered with a thin layer of leather (even in those tight spots) with absolutely no chrome, Jaques’ two-wheeler is as stylish as they come– and we’d certainly love to take it for a ride in town. Original DEVO Bike Gets Auctioned For a Great Cause

A custom crafted bicycle created and donated by Michael Hammond of Trek Bicycles says that A man is real- Not made of steel. However, those who saw lance Armstrong notch up one victory after another at the Tour de France would quietly disagree. A piece of moving art with an all-yellow bodywork, the fixed gear bike has been auctioned off for $1,325, and all the money raised went to the Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Cancer Foundation in a bid to aid the fight against the terrifying disease. Kudos to Michael and to the man who wore the fabled Yellow Jersey a record of 7 times, creating cycling history! [via JoshSpear]

When this pedal of this bike hits metal — it strikes 24-karat gold. Scandinavian design team AURUMANIA (which means preoccupied with gold) debuted the Gold Bike last September, a luxury item touted as the world’s “most lavish and expensive bike.” Just 10 of the gold bikes were made and come outfitted with a hand-stitched, brown leather Brooks saddle. Oh, and each bike is “generously” bespeckled with more than 600 Swarovski crystals. The ticket for this ride only costs a little over $100,000. [via AURUMANIA]

As of 7 September, the world will never be quite the same again. That is when the Scandinavian design company AURUMANIA will be launching the world’s most lavish and expensive bike.
But it will only be a tiny, exclusive group of people who can become the proud owners of these gold bikes, which each bear a price tag of € 80,000. That’s because only 10 will ever be made, all numbered.

A work of art

These 10 limited-edition bikes represent a cornucopia of delights for any feinschmecker. The designers have employed all the classic principles in their overall appearance, and every detail has been under careful consideration.

Each bike is hand-built, and then plated with 24-carat gold and generously adorned with more than 600 fine Swarovski crystals. The handlebar grips are made of hand-sewn, chocolate-brown leather, and a moulded Brooks leather saddle provides exactly the right nostalgic touch.

The AURUMANIA logo appear stylishly and enticingly on the crossbar, begging to be touched. The crowning glory is the limited-edition number discreetly embossed with gold leaf and set into a leather badge, placed prominently on the front of the bike. No one is left in any doubt that these bikes are unique – one of a kind for one of the very few.

This sexy single-speeder is more of a hybrid in style, being part commuter bike and part BMX intended for trick riding. Unlike some of the classic rebuilds of vintage road bikes, this baby is built from the ground up for freestyle city riding. The Wire Bike: Carbon and Kevlar

Perfect for a healthy daily commute, the Wire Bike is a cool concept that proposes to replace the fully tubed traditional frame by adding a couple of Kevlar wires to a futuristic carbon fiber frame. Work of Romanian designer Ionut Predescu, the bike is not just an interesting experiment that explores new territory, but a damn good looking one. All stylish covered in white and theoretically lighter than the classic ride, kudos to an eye-catching two wheeler that we crave to hop on. When “light” and “stiff” are both a premium in bike design, we’re confident about the weight savings on this one- but a bit concerned about its rigidity.
