I love Brooklyn Circus, especially after last fall’s collection of letterman-style sweaters and collegiate pieces. If there’s something I enjoy, it’s the pseudo-Yale separates that make me want to eat ivy and row boats. The new spring/summer 2011 drop delivers, too, but in an entirely different way. Brooklyn Circus’s newest pieces are a blend of solid fabric along the body, plus a patterned panel along the arms, and all the standard trimmings of a button-up shirt. Very nice, very nice indeed–especially the one in grey.
So if I had to choose my top selection, it would be the grey, it’s true. The blue one with all the colored bits on the arms is an interesting concept, but seeing it on the page doesn’t move me. The grey, however? It looks better with the contrasting print and really works with jeans. I mean well, not just so-so. I am undecided about the pink, but if you like all three or even just one, how about you hunt a shirt down for yourself? Brooklyn Circus made these in the U.S. from Japanese fabric, and according to Hypebeast, their trunk show in San Francisco will be held from 5-9 p.m. this Friday. More designs coming in May!
