If you thought the world didn’t need a lifestyle apparel and accessories collection designed by Sylvester Stallone you would be so damn wrong. Because it’s real and it’s coming soon. The famous actor has launched a new business to develop Stallone, a men’s lifestyle brand. Stallone is set for launch in 2012.
“I thought the time is now,” Stallone told Men’sWeek. “I’ve lived a life where I know what has worked and what hasn’t worked. Clothing is the first step to building a character.”
The inspiration for the collection will be Stallone’s two most iconic characters: Rocky and Rambo.
So we’re talking about camouflage, boxing trunks and sweatpants? Wait! He did wear that awesome black hat in Rocky.
“Rocky at the end of the day is a love story,” explains Michael Henry, president of Sly Inc. who will launch the line, “while Rambo showcases the other side of masculinity, he’s a loner.”
So the label will offer looks for “the rebel and the gentleman.”
Stallone, 64, said the first time he personally became “truly involved in style,” was between Rambo 2 and Rambo 3 when he underwent a “huge weight change,” dropping from 185 to 160 pounds.
Said Stallone: “Nothing fit so I started buying custom clothing. I found out I really like this world.”
According to the Men’s Week article, the first categories to be introduced will be jeans, shirts, outerwear, underwear and watches. After that look for eyewear, grooming products, fragrance, activewear and athletic shoes.
The target customer will be a man between the ages of 25 and 40. Yes! Still in the demo, baby!! Bring on the Rocky jeans!
Rocky is one of my favorite films, and I generally like Stallone, so I’m not about to bash his fashion line without seeing it. But when word gets out that the Rocky and Rambo characters will be the inspiration for the brand, well that pushes the curiosity meter way up the ladder?
