The Limited Edition TAG Heuer Monaco V4 may look like a construction from another place and time, but it’s actually a total shift from traditional watch design. Instead of operating by springs, gears and a recoil escapement — methods used since the 18th century — TAG Heuer is the world’s first watch with belt drives, along with a linear mass and ball bearings. Because the watch requires no gears to operate, it’s more efficient, with less vibrations, than a traditional watch. And TAG Heuer is obviously eager to show off its new take on watch construction, with the inner workings exposed, forming the backdrop for stylish blue hands. It’ll be available in two batches, the first coming in November, for roughly $80,000. [via Watch Happening]
