Best known as a Formula One constructor and for its legendary F1 supercar, McLaren is ready to set new performance standards with its latest P11. Considered one of the most environmentally friendly cars in its class, the P11 is an ultra-lightweight vehicle that packs a Mercedes AMG-sourced 6.2-litre V8 engine to help it reach 60mph in less than four seconds with a max speed over 200mph. The McLaren P11 also features a Formula One KERS-style system (a technology that captures heat energy from braking) boosting the engine’s strength. With its aggressive design and smart, green power, there’s no surprise that the new McLaren P11 will rival cars like Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari F430.
With more info available later on this year at the Los Angeles Motor Show, what we know for sure is that the P11 is expected to go on sale in 2011 with a price tag close to £150,000 (some $220,000 at today’s rate).
