To honor an influential Malaysian “power family,” the YTL Design Group tapped Jouin Manku, a Paris designer who built a home that mirrored the family’s impact on the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Planning began in 2003, and by late 2008, Manku revealed a large, contemporary residence that combines industrial elements with livable modern accents. The 9-bed/21-bath residence houses three generations of family members, and was built around distinct public and private spaces. Also included in the 9,000 square-foot home is a library, game room, chapel, reception space, two guest suites, indoor parking for guests and a ballroom that boasts a chandelier made from 13,000 custom glazed porcelain petals.
