Intrigued by the city’s eclectic mixture of ‘fin de siecle’ architecture and the vividly urban life, you’ll find that the small Paris of Eastern Europe charms you at a first glance. That must be the reason why Zaha Hadid Architects elected Bucharest to plant one of their stylish skyscrapers. Nothing short of breathtaking, Dorobanti Tower is sinusoidal expressive structure that will feature a 5-star hotel, restaurants, a convention center, luxury apartments and retail spaces at street level. It might take away from the intimate atmosphere of the city, but definitely goes fine with the alert lifestyle of the Romanians. [via ArchDaily]

I'm sorry to disapoint you but there is no such thing as "fit" betwen what Zaha desinged and how Bucharest looks like. I've been living in Bucharest my hole life, and i'm onestly not very keen on seeing buildings this tall. It's not the plans that i hate, but the placement. It's in the heart of the city and it is surounded by small eclectical buildings. The architecture here is not ready for such an idea. The urban development is not taken into consideration at all. We have trafic issues here and we don't have any parking places for all the cars that this building is gona attract. I love what Zaha does but this terbily tall uilding does not fit the landscape of my city. And there are many other citizens of Bucharest that agree with what i have said. Unfortunately we are still way behind with the architecture that is practiced in the Western Europe and we have much to catch up with.

It's called underground parking. Before raising the building the engineers should make sure to dig enough levels down to accommodate enough cars for all residents, businesses, plus a set number of guests.
