Location dictated design for this modern Seattle home. Located in the Sunset Hill neighborhood, the ChiaroScuro House is oriented to soften and diffuse intense western light, while not obstructing views towards Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula. Designed by architects at Studios Ectypos, the house’s warm wood paneling contrasts its industrial base, which is built atop a foundation and framework of exposed concrete walls and structural steel. The home’s master suite is framed by trellises and green roofing elements. [via contemporist]
