house15 Bay Watch: Cantilevered Australian Home

Cantilevering to offer panoramic views of nearby Port Phillip Bay, the Beaumaris Home offers both unobstructed views and intimate, restricted family space. Completed in 2007 by designers at Maddison Architects, the 5-bed/4-bath home (currently for sale!) was built in the Beaumaris suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The design centers around two large rectangular structures. The home’s black, zinc-clad southern wing is the activity center, housing outdoor, living and dining spaces. The home’s northern, masonry-clad wing hosts private spaces for bathing and sleeping. [via contemporist]
