LinkCrave: The Most Mantastic Moments in Black History
By Mike Payne
Historic figures like Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali and Marlin Briscoe were more than just athletes– they were pioneers that helped tear down the color barriers of modern sport. To celebrate the achievements of some of the world’s greatest athletes, soldiers and everyday citizens, our friends over at Asylum have put together a list of the most mantastic moments in black history. Head over there and learn yourself a thing or two, as this is the month in which we celebrate the achievements of our black brothers and sisters around the world. [asylum]

It is terrific to see this included at this website, for three reasons:
First, it is about time we give more notice to those among us who are of African heritage. They've given us a lot, as this listing shows.
Second, as a youngster I had the very good fortune to meet Jesse Owens. Not once but twice. A very modest and self-effacing man who was a wonderful role model for anyone. He deserves accolades.
Third, my son put this in here and his grandfather was murdered by a man who hated. Mike, like me I'm sure, regard the fact that the man who murdered my father did not know the man he murdered was a strong defender of the black race. The murderer was black and, speaking for us, his race was merely a coincidence and simple hatred was the real problem – not typical of our black brothers.
