A space inside Boston’s historic Penny Saving Bank building has been renovated with a new interior bolstered by topographic wooden spirals which draw attention to the organically vaulted ceilings of BanQ, a sexy international restaurant and bar situated in the city’s South End. Inside the shell of the 1917 building, urban architects at Boston’s Office dA used intricate, nature-inspired geometry to support the restaurant’s open dining room, which lends architectural substance and eye-catching design, while allowing efficent use of the busy space by restaurant staff and patrons. Not sure if I like this restaurant design – seems to me it would make me claustrophobic. Very unique, though, that's for sure.
