Can't you already imagine sound waves bouncing off all those hard surfaces? It could become annoying in short order if you have enough people in there and someone playing a radio. Why not put a large shag rug in that big upper room with the recliner chair? It would soften it up a lot, reduce noise, and eliminate a lot of sunlight/lamp glare.
