Just days away from the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Ford has officially revealed their 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 to the world.  The 2010 Ford Mustang has received the ultimate Shelby treatment, getting a body facelift and enough power under the hood to make it the fastest production Mustang in history.  The GT500 is powered by an updated 540 hp 5.4L V8, based on the last Shelby’s 500 hp heartbeat.  While the performance stats have yet to appear, history has shown that the Shelby Mustangs remain amongst the top production models of their U.S. counterparts.

While the base-model 2010 Ford Mustang was first shown in November, the Shelby GT500 build is promising to be one of the leading stories at this year’s NAIAS.  The GT500 is not a concept, this baby will be in Ford showrooms by Spring, promising a quick turn-around from first showing to the U.S. auto market. One of the best on TTAC in recent times.Interesting car. Hope I drive one. If I do I’ll try to enjoy the heck out of it. Still like some other folk, it may not be my preference.
