It seems that apart from the vast amount of wind-energy that the Dutch rely on, they are turning more and more towards alternate power. Natuurcafé La Port is a cafe at the Driebergen-Zeist railway station which has managed to turn its rotating door into an energy producing machine. A generator that has been fitted on top of the door creates energy while the door spins as people walk through it. The revolving door is capable of producing 4600 KWh of energy each year, which is a pretty good number. Just imagine what if every rotating door on subways in London, Paris and New York would do the same… [via Inhabitat]
