Amphibian Akoya Airplane, the Wonder Aircraft

Announced back in 2007 by LISA Airplanes, the amazing amphibian Akoya airplane is now available for orders. In name and design, this brilliant, private air taxi reminds us quite a bit of the Aptera, a car we reviewed on GearCrave last December. Powered by a tail-mounted 100hp Rotax piston engine and made of high-tech composite materials, this Akoya is able to operate from either land, snow or water. Orders will be accepted for around $400,000, with an initial $13,000 advance, although the delivery date will not be guaranteed. [via BornRich]
