While we already showed that modern prefabs can be a way to go green, go “less expensive” on a progressive home, the people at LPA Architects have proven the same with this brilliant site-built home.  LPA Architect’s Chestnut House was built for their president, Dan Henfield’s Irvine, California home.  The goal was employ their firm’s mission statement to an absolute in this home.  They wanted to push the boundaries of green building and energy efficiency, but to do so at no added cost.  With a 5.3kW solar-tiled roof, recycled flooring, sustainable woods and natural heating/cooling methods, the home is nearly grid-free… in addition to being drop dead gorgeous.  [via inhabitat]

Now that’s what I call a dream house of mine, this is definitely the type of modern house I want to have, it looks very comfortable to live in and neat, I think anyone would like this.
